Projects that need urgent funding

Sustainable and Renewable energy for the grass-root population

Solar-powered Stove that uses volcanic rocks for cooking

The above system is sustainable and renewable. It also provides solar power for lighting homes and a charging system for different gadgets. The system is solar –powered. So it is Eco-friendly and cost effective.

This way, when we tell the people to spare our trees for greater global benefits, we will have provided a viable alternative.

The above system comes at a cost of  USD $1,052.6- two burners with oven.

The system uses volcanic rocks which are reusable. They can last for a year. After such a period one can buy the rocks again which cost USD $ 21

The extraction of these rocks is now a source of income for the locals in Karamoja, Mbale, Kisoro and Rukungiri districts in Uganda.

Volcanic Rocks for cooking

We need to supply 100 of the above, to 100 grassroot communities as a pilot project in exchange for the locals to cooperate with us to plant fruit trees, medicinal trees and the recovery of rare virgin forest species.

We agree with the beneficiaries to protect all grown trees in their areas from deforestation and to reafforestate bare land in their surroundings. Once we see the results, we in turn donate the above sustainable and renewable energy system. For very destitute areas, we provide a common area for communal use (sharing).

The agreement is such that, we reserve the right to take back our energy system in case the beneficiaries break the agreement of not maintaining a green environment and in case of any signs of deforestation. MPF Volunteers periodically make abrupt check-in rounds on our beneficiaries.

PUBLIC NOTICE

Afforestation on 20 acres at Nakiyaga village in Masaka district-donated land

Mercy Projects Foundation needs to replant a forest of rare forest trees that have been made almost extinct due to the relentless logging of  forests due to the greater need to supply the firewood and charcoal market.

All the above programs entail intense field trainings in grass root communities on Environment protection and Responsible Waste Management Practices.

$1 can help us pay a field worker for an hour and a trainer for an hour to help us preserve the special Shea Tree specie that's grown in Northern Uganda. This tree is threatened by the on-going firewood and charcoal business in Uganda.

Note of Appreciation

Special thanks to Mercy Projects Foundation's latest donor: Pelrique Price from New York-USA.

We have used her donation to book a Rain Water Harvesting Tank of 20,000 liters.

This will serve a community of beneficiaries who have done a great job of protecting and planting fruit trees. They have preserved age-old virgin trees that are a "rare find!" We must remember that these days in EastAfrica, there is immense deforestation due to the charcoal business!

The 20,000 liter Rain Water Harvesting Tank will be our gift to this community. One 20,000 liter Tank costs: USD $12,631.5

It is worth noting that the more trees in our world the less carbon emissions in our world.

Past MPF Benefactor

Great gratitude goes to our benefactor: Belgian Technical Corporation, now- ENABEL in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Thank you for trusting Mercy Projects Foundation. Way back in 2013, we signed a contract with you which we posted on our facebook page as a sign appreciation. You helped our dream come true in Kimara-Dar es Salaam! We shall always be grateful. The financial support we received from you helped us to reach out to some grass-root community in Kimara who were suffering water shortages. We were able to 'kill four birds with one stone!' With BTC support we were able to MITIGATE and CONSERVE, SUSTAIN and SENSITIZE the area people on the urgent call to work as a community to help Mother Earth. Mercy Projects Foundation's reward for that community's  cooperation, was the Rain Water Harvesting Tank. Thank you BTC now ENABEL TANZANIA
